Our First Video Post!

I've been trying for WEEKS to figure out how to load my darn Flip Video videos on here, or send via email, or load on Facebook.  It seems even a 20 second video is too large.  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, so I thought I'd load it to YouTube and go from there.  Hopefully you guys can see it, and if not... someone please tell me! :)

This is from last night... Nick was playing with Kaelan and Sully started getting all excited.  He would run over lick Kaelan and run away.  Well, Kaelan thought this was great fun so he started smiling and talking back.  He even giggled a few times, but we didn't catch any good ones on camera.  Maybe next time.  :)  Eventually Sully got a little TOO excited so we constantly had to get his attention.  This literally went on for about 30 minutes, off and on.  Love my little man's smiles! :)

Ok, I promised more pictures... so here are a few!  Ok, more like a ton ;)

Hangin' Out in his Bumbo

His new shades. I love this picture because you can see Nick being a goofball in the reflection of his glasses.  Oh the things parents will do for a smile :)

Just chilling during a wardrobe change.  This was too cute not to photograph!

Just the sweetest baby ever... ;) Something tells me when he's 16 and getting into trouble, all he'll have to do is give me a smile and all will be forgiven.

Last night from playing with Sully... we got some cute photos... here are a couple :)

4 Month Check-Up

Kaelan had his 4 Month Well Check-up today - ie: Vaccine Day. :( Poor Baby.

Stats:

Weight - 15lbs 8.7oz (70.05 Percentile)
Height - 25.5in (77.7 Percentile)
Head - 16.73in (62.01 Percentile)

I was surprised that he hadn't grown more than that - I swear my back is killing me and he is almost growing out of his car seat!!  But the pediatrician said he is doing great!  He may even be teething.  Not sure how I feel about that!  We were given the green light to start solids.  She gave us some cues to look for to tell when HE is ready, so we'll see how this goes!  Here he is waiting for his shots, poor kid had no idea what was coming:

He was not a fan of the oral vaccine... mainly because he had just had a bottle and the nurse made me cradle him like a baby... this baby does NOT like to be cradled.  He is a big boy now and wants to sit up.  The shots were, of course, traumatic.  He turned a very vibrant shade of red/purple but Nick got him quiet pretty fast.  Oh and this time, mom didn't cry.  Yay me! :)  By the time we were home, he was full of smiles.  I must admit MY cheeks hurt from smiling back at him so much!  Unfortunately his good humor only lasted through his first afternoon nap.  Then the vaccines must have taken over because my easy baby was gone.  I could not put him down.  Repeat.  Could.  Not.  Put.  Him.  Down.  When I tried, I thought he was going to whip out his tiny baby cell phone and call CPS on me.  So we spent the majority of the afternoon / evening like this (I apologize for the blurry photo quality):

Thanks goodness there was a Law & Order marathon on TNT!  And, thank goodness I took the day off work.  He got a little better tonight, but hopefully he wakes up his usual cheerful self.

I have TONS of photos to post so I think I'll do that tomorrow.  Get ready for cuteness overload!! ;)

Busy Weekend!

The Marcelle's had yet another busy weekend.  Friday night my coworker, Jaymee, watched Kaelan so Nick and I could go see my favorite country music artist - Alan Jackson - at the rodeo with my parents.  We had a great time and Alan (yes, we're on a first name basis) was amazing as always!

Our friends Kristy and Alton came into town later that night with their sweet baby girl Aniya.  This was the first time all of Nick's closest friends with our new babies were in the same place at the same time. Juan & Jessica's daughter Sofia is the oldest at 6 months, Kaelan comes next at almost 4 months, then there is Aniya at 3 months, and Chris and Laura's little Tristan at 2 months.  Saturday morning before everyone came over we took Kaelan to Target to have his 3 (and a half) month pictures taken.  I was a little skeptical on how they would turn out, but Target did a great job and my 50% off coupon definitely came in handy!

One of the Collages - this is Kaelan's Easter outfit

Cutie Pie!

We took a short break after this for half a bottle of formula... he went back to being his usual cheerful smiley self thank goodness!  He did SO well, I was so proud of him!

His Easter outfit actually has a matching hat, but I totally forgot to put it on him

Sweet Baby Boy

So after his pictures, everyone came over for lunch/dinner.  I only managed to get a few pictures, Kaelan was a little more needy than usual.  Every time I would pay attention to one of the other babies, he would throw a little hissy fit.  Can't believe he is getting jealous already!

Sofia and Kaelan getting acquainted

Jess with Sofia and Aniya

First photo shoot, minus Kaelan who was napping. Four babies? Four different schedules! Check out Sofia loungin'!

Tristan enjoyed using Kaelan's bumbo

Second photo shoot for 3 tired babies.  The girls were NOT amused, Kaelan couldn't decide if he should cry like Aniya and Sofia or laugh like all the parents were.  It really was quite comical!

Sofia is so fun to be around! I can't wait for Kaelan to hit 6 months!

Daddies! Nick with Kaelan and Alton with Aniya

Sweet baby Aniya - the best sleeper I've ever seen! What a sweetie.

Kristy with Kaelan

Kaelan saying bye-bye to his new friend.  Such a sweet picture!

Sorry for the photo overload.  The sad part is, I have tons more to share! Hopefully later this week I'll get around to adding them!  Hope everyone has a great week!

St. Patty's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This time last year I was at Goose's Acre Pub in The Woodlands, having myself a green beer or two (or five...).  I had no idea I was into my second week of pregnancy and Baby Kaelan was already growing inside me.  I thank the good Lord everyday those green beers had no effect on him!

This year, we'll be spending our St. Patty's Day at home with our little man :)

Things I've Learned as a Mommy

I'm officially 3.5 months into motherhood and I feel confident saying I've already learned a few things.  I learn something new every day and I do things I swore I would never do.
  1. I've learned that there truly is nothing like a mother's love for her child.
  2. The first shower after giving birth is the most amazing shower you'll ever take.
  3. Now that I'm a mommy, there are certain TV shows I have a hard time watching - case in point: Law & Order SVU.
  4. You can't hold a newborn "too much."
  5. You can't escape advice from strangers.  Even the random lady outside Jason's Deli has an opinion on how you should be taking care of your baby.
  6. I swore I would never say "Shhhh the baby is sleeping" and yet I find myself shutting the bedroom door and tiptoeing around quietly while Kaelan is napping.
  7. Breastfeeding is not necessary to bond with your child, no matter what anyone says.
  8. Lactation Consultants are, for the the most part, full of shit.
  9. I really do have the most gorgeous child on the face of the planet.
  10. I promised myself my Facebook profile would NOT be littered with baby photos and baby status updates.  I failed that promise miserably.
  11. Anyone who calls a stretch mark a "badge of honor" can join the Lactation Consultants in their big barrel of poo.  I love my child.  I hate my stretch marks.
  12. No matter what I'm doing, how I'm feeling, or where I am, a smile from Kaelan changes everything

Kaelan's First Big Milestone

We had a pretty exciting Saturday over here at the Marcelle house.  Nick had to get up extremely early (6AM on a Saturday!) and go the Houston SPCA Mutt Strutt - which his company sponsors.  It's a lot of fun and Kaelan and I had intended to go along and bring Sully.  However, the cold / rainy weather kept us home.  It's a great event to raise money for the Houston SPCA by struttin' your stuff with your mutt.  Hopefully next year we'll all be able to go.

While Nick was gone, I put Kaelan down for his requisite morning tummy time - which he HATES, but I force on him as much as I can.  To my surprise, his head went straight up and stayed there.  I quickly snapped some poor quality photos with my phone camera.  I was so proud of this little guy!  I must admit - with his aversion to tummy time, I wondered if he would ever reach this milestone.  As soon as Nick got home I showed him K's new trick and we got some pretty good photos of it.  He must have known he really had an audience because this is the highest he has held it so far.

13 Weeks, 5 Days Old

Our Saturday continued with a trip to the Houston Rodeo.  We didn't go inside the stadium, I thought it was still a bit too loud for him (yes, I'm a coddler), but we had a great time going around the vendor booths and hanging out outside for lunch.  I didn't get very many good pictures, but here are a few while we were eating lunch.

I made sure to bring the rodeo themed burp cloth my dad's cousin Phyllis made for him. :-)

Here a few other photos we've taken over the last two weeks.

Exactly 12 Weeks Old

This is how tummy time used to be ;)

Playing with some of his toys (thank you Heather & Cy!!)

This hat was a gift from the hospital when we left

Just a typical Saturday afternoon with his new book from geniusbabies.
com (yes, my child WILL be a genius)

He is REALLY starting to like his bumpo. And Sully is always around to help out when needed.

He is starting to really put weight on his legs now!
