Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Memorial Day!!  (A day late...) I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Ours was very enjoyable: a 3-day weekend with my 2 favorite guys?  Yes, please!  On Saturday, our friends Chris and Laura had their baby boy baptized.  We were so happy to be there to share that special day with them and with Tristan.

Sunday we intended to go to church.  Kaelan slept a full 12 hours (the longest he has slept so far, usually we get about 10 hours) so we thought he'd be set for church.  He had other ideas though... after being up only an hour and half he decided he needed a nap... for 2 hours!  I sense a growth spurt.  Anyway, he slept through church so after he finally woke up we picked up my grandma and headed up to my parents' for an early Memorial Day BBQ.  We tried taking him to the pool, but I think it was a little too cold for him so he wasn't very happy about it.  Hopefully we can try again, I'd love for him to like the water and I think Nick's side of the family might disown him if he doesn't like the pool! ;)  Here are a few pictures from that day...

Nick and I both had off on Monday so we took a trip to the Cypress Outlet Mall.  Kaelan is now in 9 month clothes and is seriously lacking in 9 month and 12 month sizes!  Luckily we hit a great sale at Carter's and were able to stock up on 12 month pieces.  Kaelan was SUCH a good baby that day.  We ended up stopping at our neighborhood park to try out one of the toddler swings.  We ended up trying out a few other play things and snapped a few (ok, a lot of) pictures with my iPhone.  I think he had a good time. :)

Kaelan's PePaw keeps him stocked up on the latest Aggie gear. Here he is in his stroller and "My First A&M Cap" - gosh he's a cute little Aggie!

Kaelan LOVED the swing!

He *really* liked the whale... he wouldn't stop touching it and smiling

Last but not least, the slide! We just laid him on it, no sliding quite yet. ;)

Kaelan's Baptism!

Sunday was Kaelan's baptism.  It was such a special day for many reasons other than the obvious. We were blessed to have lots of family and friends there to witness the special occasion.  Kaelan wore the same outfit his daddy was baptized in, used my baptismal blanket, and had his own new bib embroidered with his name and a cross.  The minister who performed the ceremony, Reverend Orin Smith, was the same minister who married Nickolas and me 4.5 years ago.  We were so happy and blessed to have him play a role in another milestone for our little family.

Here is a video of most of the baptism.  I cut out the beginning because it was mostly of my back and I cut out the end as well.  When we all laugh at the beginning, it's because as Orin took him from me he said "Oh he's heavy!" :)

Here are QUITE a few photos from yesterday... sorry for the photo bomb!! :)

The next few photos are gifts from the church... I can't believe the amazing gifts they gave him!

Each page is a different Bible story and is completely interactive. On this page, the flaps of the creation globe pull back so you can see what God created on each day

You can take different animals out of Noah's Ark.  There are lots of different pages with different stories... it is so adorable and so special!

The back is personalized just for Kaelan!

Sampler made for him by the church's Altar Guild.  Can't wait to get this framed!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today was my first Mother's Day as a mommy... last year Kaelan was about 2 months old inside me.  Only immediately family knew I was pregnant at that point so I remember holding a beer in all my pictures because I didn't want anyone noticing I wasn't drinking!  Haha!  Only in the Bouillion family would that mean anything. ;)

Mother's Day this year was great!  We celebrated early on Saturday with my mom and Gamma.  We had SUCH a lovely day.  Nick and my dad worked in her yard putting in new soil, mulch, planting some new plants, etc.  What the heck do you give an 88 year old woman who has everything she needs and buys whatever she wants??  Physical labor apparently.  Her yard looks great!!  I don't have any pictures yet from yesterday, I completely spaced on bringing a camera.  Kaelan was such a good boy... Gamma got to play with him and my mom got to play with him too.  He rolled over a few times (sometime I swear I'm talking about the dog...) and for the first time actually pushed himself up all the way with his arms totally extended.  Such a big boy.  Once I have pictures, I'll be sure to post some!

Today was the best Mother's Day a mommy could ask for.  Nick got up with Kaelan (who was nice enough not to wake up until 8am) and let me sleep until I woke up on my own.  **Heaven**  Once I was up I was given coffee, cards, and cuddles from Kaelan.  We went to lunch at Cheesecake Factory and thank goodness Kaelan was an angel.  He just smiled and smiled.  This was such a blessing considering our failed attempt at restaurant dining on Thursday night - long story short it resulted in us placing a to-go order and eating at home, it was that bad.

We made our weekly trek to Babies'rUs - I swear I should buy stock in that store, but hey, they were having a special on formula.  We walked out with not only formula, but about 8 new outfits as well.  Dang it.  Anyway, my point to this is that as a Mother's Day gift, Kaelan decided he would give me belly laughs on video.  So.  Excited.  They're small belly laughs, but belly laughs all the same.  Enjoy. :)

***Disclaimer: no children were harmed in the making of this video... said child was strapped into his car seat and adults were present to be sure the car seat never left the store cart, despite being messed with ;)***

After we got home, Kaelan and I took some pictures in front of our Vitex plant that decided to bloom early this year.  I can't ever decide which picture is best, so here are a few :)

Nick picked this shirt out for Kaelan to wear today :)

Our vitex blooming... so glad Nick didn't listen to me and rip it out after we moved in before it started blooming!

Just random picture from today in his Johnny Jump Up... he still is a little confused as to what to do, but this face was priceless :)

After pictures, we decided to try solids again.  This time in the form of sweet potatoes.  I've decided to make my own baby food so we bought the "Ninja" system.  Apparently it is replacing the Magic Bullet in most stores.  I like it because it has 3 different size container to blend stuff, its all dishwasher safe, and I had a coupon. ;)  Seriously though, it was super easy to use and clean up was FAST.  I really don't think I'll have any issues making Kaelan's baby food with this thing!  One potato made enough for him this week and enough to freeze for next week.  Score!  Here is Kaelan getting excited about trying it out.

And here are a few photos of the sweet potato endeavor.  I'll admit, it's not like he was ravenous and ate every single bite, but he did well and seemed to like it MUCH better than rice cereal.

Video x2!

Post and run this week, however, I have two videos to share.  The first was taken yesterday... Kaelan is SERIOUSLY getting into his jumperoo.  At the end of the video, I got a GREAT smile. :)

This second video is of Kaelan eating a clementine with his mesh teether.  Anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, here is the link. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2738035

You put the food in but it keeps them from swallowing chunks, seeds, etc.  Well, Kaelan LOVED the clementine, as you can see... and he was very vocal about it. :)  I'm so looking forward to trying new foods with him!  Hope everyone has a good week!
