Wayyyy back in August we took Kaelan to Galveston for the day. My cousin Sherrie was in town visiting her good friends Patsy and Tyler and they graciously invited us down too. I suspect it had more to do with seeing Kaelan than seeing us, but oh well. ;) Kaelan had a BLAST. I thought for sure he'd have a meltdown over the heat or being tired, but he wanted nothing more than to dig his hands into the sand and let the waves wash over his legs. He was PERFECT and once we were back at the beach house, he took quite a long nap. I can't wait to take him again! Here are quite a few pictures from that day... everyone knows I have a hard time picking just a few. :)

Well, it's been awhile since I've blogged and we have had a lot going on! Here's what's happened since I last posted...
Kaelan had his first road trip at the end of July - the two of us accompanied my parents to Louisiana to see my aunt, uncle, cousins, and friends visiting from France. We had a great time and Kaelan charmed everyone. He was such a good little guy in the car - hardly any freakouts at all. Nick was at a church retreat with Camille so he had to miss out on this one... I'm sure there will be more to come!
I celebrated my first birthday as a mommy - it was a GREAT day! We had dinner with my parents the day before then the day of Nick and I went and saw two movies while Kaelan was at the sitter's, followed by dinner that night with Nick's family to celebrate my bday and Nick's mom's bday.
Kaelan cut a second tooth on august 10th! He now has 2 on the bottom... still waiting to see where the next ones are coming in... he's drooling buckets again but I haven't spotted any white caps just yet.
I went back to work on August 16th, having been cleared by my doctor. It has been nice to get back into the swing of things... although I DO miss GMA and Regis & Kelly in the mornings!! Think I could convince work to let get in around 10:30?? Yeah.. probably not.
Kaelan had his first trip to the beach and he loved loved LOVED it! He refused to nap at all, he was having such a good time.
As of Friday night, Kaelan is officially crawling. I finally got video of it!
Kaelan is finally feeding himself puffs and bits of crackers... I never thought this day would come!
Nick and I were able to go watch Texas A&M BTHO SMU! It was a GREAT game and the weather was awesome.
I *think* that's about it... hopefully I didn't miss anything! I have my ultrasound appointment tomorrow with the doctor so hopefully everything looks good... I'll actually have one more test in the near future where they'll insert dye into my cervix and send me to radiology so they can watch it go through my tubes - just to make sure I'm in tip-top shape when we decide to try for baby #2. Don't get your hopes up... that will be yearsssssss in the making ;) Here are a few random pictures!

Hello blog readers! I must apologize for my lack of posting! Doctor's orders: no going upstairs. Given that our PC is upstairs, I've felt a little out of touch with the real world (okay, the internet...) just using my iPhone. It's been a tough, yet exciting two weeks in the Marcelle house.
My surgery went well... minimal bleeding, minimal damage to the uterine wall. I'll have a few follow-up appointments in the next few months and a follow-up ultrasound in 2 months just to make sure everything is healing properly. The doctor removed a few fibroids... the largest was 7cm, two were around 4cm, and a few smaller ones. I spent 2 days in the hospital. Nick brought Kaelan up to see me for a few minutes so that was nice. Besides the pain, the hardest part of all of this has been not being able to hold and pick up my baby. It's been 2 weeks since the surgery and I can officially hold him as long as I'm sitting down and I'm able to give him his bottle - which is fantastically awesome - and I can sit at the table and feed him his solids.
Let me take this time to give my husband some major props... he has been AMAZING. He does 100% of everything for Kaelan, 100% of the housework, and 100% of the yard work (although I must admit, the yard has suffered a tad). Nick is such a good daddy and takes such great care of Kaelan... we're both so lucky to have him around! He also takes good care of me... bringing me whatever I need or want, holding the bowl or bag while I got sick over and over the first day home from hospital, picking up things if I drop them, running errands after Kaelan is down for the night... I'm so blessed to have this wonderful man in my life! A big thank you to both of our mothers for their help and meals. Thank you to everyone who has helped out with babysitting, dinners, desserts, etc. It truly means the world to us and we greatly appreciate you!

Now on to the fun stuff!! Kaelan has been quite busy the last two weeks...
We had a professional photo shoot at The Woodlands Waterway over 4th of July weekend... here are a few sneak peeks I got... can't WAIT to get the final images! :) Crystal of Crystal Lynn Photography (http://www.crystallynnblog.com/) did an AMAZING job. Our little guy was not very loose with the smiles that morning but I know she was still able to capture some great images of our little guy.
We have our first tooth! You can just barely see it on the bottom.
Kaelan is getting more and more mobile with each passing day. We're headed to the store this weekend to buy baby gates for the stairs. He is starting to crawl... for now, he can only scoot backwards, but he scoots himself ALL over the game room! That started Saturday. Then this evening he officially worked his way up onto hands and knees and started rocking back and forth. The video is a little silly - ignore mine and Nick's excitement in the background... we really are silly first-time parents. :)

Finally, I'm having surgery tomorrow to remove 3 fibroids. I'll be in the hospital for 2-3 days and will be home from work for about 6 weeks recovering. I won't be updating the blog much in the next 2 weeks or so (we're also without internet at the moment.. thank you Nickolas for getting so angry with AT&T that he canceled our service without lining up new service...) but hopefully I'll be back online soon! I have cute pictures and videos to show off of my handsome little man!
On Saturday we took Kaelan to have some studio portraits done. I found a photographer in the Spring area who was running a free special. Kristin Tate, of TD Photography, did such a great job! Impromptu family shot... we look a little rough. Nick had just played golf and I pretty much had rolled out of bed and thrown my hair back. Oh well. :)
Shortly after this shot, Kaelan pitched forward and bonked his head on the stearing wheel. Poor kid - there were lots of tears. I wasn't quick enough that time. :(

Today was Nick's first Father's Day - I hope he had as much fun as I did! Happy Father's Day to the best daddy Kaelan could ever ask for - and also to the best husband in the world. We love you so very much! Also, a very Happy Father's Day to my own dad, the best dad a girl could have. :)
